Shifting goals in Iraq: The Decider's own words.

Bush's own words are used throughout the years to point out how the goal has moved from a stable democracy that will be a beacon of hope to the Midde East and an ally in the War on Terror to merely providing security for one city as the rest of the country devolves into civil war and militia rule.
Oh, and don't worry: the Iraqi government has "an aggressive plan" to deal with sectarian forces, spake the Decider. Too bad the Iraqi government can't form a complete Cabinet or enact legislation. Al-Maliki faces a no-confidence vote in about a week. If it succeeds, the new government will likely ask U.S. forces to withdraw by December. Try maintaining support for an occupation, much less a "surge", when the people we 'fighting for' ask us to go.
The handwriting is on the wall. Even the right-wing blogs are 'surrendering' on this point.
The GOP should abandon this stupid and ill-conceived occupation and focus on what it does best: hating Democrats. They can keep on hating Muslims, too, as long as they leave our military out of it.
