Poll results on Iraq situation

The latest Newsweek poll on Iraq:

The Neocons have been shrilling for months about how Harry Reid is responsible for "defeatism". Hell, they have pretty much gone so far as to say the man is hated by the public. However, only 13% see Congress as responsible for "the current situation in Iraq". It also affirms that, in the minds of the public, this war is definitely "Bush's war". And if, as 33% say, the Iraqi leaders are to blame, how are we ever going to get a stable Iraqi government and military that will "stand up so we can stand down"? And only 20% of Republicans blame Congress for the Iraq situation. It really shows that the Pelosi/Reid haters are seriously out of touch with everyone but their little clique.

Also, roughly half of the country doesn't want to wait until September for an assessment of the surge:

With that in mind, the next results are really quite telling:

So, about half of the country doesn't even want to wait until September's report from Petraeus, 64% say the surge is a failure, and 40% blame the Bush Administration for it.
Look at those numbers for independent voters as well. They are the swing votes in the next election.
Recently right-wing blogs ahve been bragging about the "booming economy" that bush has brought about. It turns out 59% disapprove of his Handling of the economy.
It is truly stunning that Republicans have bet the farm on this unpopular man and his unpopular war. Sadly, they still keep predicting a Republican win in 2008 because "Americans like to win" and "the surge will turn out to be a success". The polls say otherwise, and the polls reflect elections. Sure, Bush will make some ridiculous pronouncement where he re-defines the word "success" and his faithful will lap it up, but the American public at large won't if these numbers are any indication.
