After we "annihilate the Iranian military in three days" what comes NEXT? This is how we got into the Iraqi mess. Do we then overthrow the government of Iran and occupy it? Or do we blast the hell out of them just to show we can, while leaving the government in place? Is this likely to make Iran more or less willing to curb its aid to the "insurgents"?
The important thing is that it will make Israel happy, which is the finest example of the tail wagging the dog in modern times.
US Preparing Plans For Flattening Iran's Military
(IsraelNN.com) The Times of London reported Sunday that the USA has drawn up plans for massive airstrikes against 1,200 targets in Iran, which would "annihilate the Iranians' military capabilty in three days."
Alexis Debat, director of terrorism and national security at the Nixon Center, said that US military planners were not preparing for 'pinprick strikes' against Iran's nuclear facilities. "They're about taking out the entire Iranian military," he said.
Debat told The Sunday Times that the US military had concluded: "Whether you go for pinprick strikes or all-out military action, the reaction from the Iranians will be the same." It was, he added, a "very legitimate strategic calculus".
Alexis Debat is, of course, a strong Bush cheerleader who claimed that invading Iraq would defeat Al-Qaeda across the world. He is a consistent source of tenuous rumours regarding Al-Qaeda and "jihadists" who makes his living by providing the Right with scary quotes about imminent threats.
